Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase, Vikings QB Sam Darnold Highlight Players of the Week
The NFL has announced its Players of the Week for Week 10, and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold have earned the honors.
Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals WR
Chase had a breakout performance in the Bengals’ 34-23 victory over the New Orleans Saints. The second-year wideout caught 10 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score with just over two minutes remaining.
Chase’s performance was particularly impressive considering that he was facing one of the top defenses in the NFL. The Saints entered the game allowing just 17.4 points per game, but Chase was able to exploit their coverage and make big plays when it mattered most.
Chase’s two touchdowns give him six on the season, which is tied for the most in the NFL. He is also third in the league with 861 receiving yards, and his 100 receptions are the most by any player in their first two seasons in NFL history.
Sam Darnold, Vikings QB
Darnold led the Vikings to a crucial 33-30 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park. The former Jets and Panthers quarterback completed 21 of 30 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception.
Darnold’s performance was particularly impressive in the second half, as he led the Vikings back from a 17-point deficit. He threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns in the second half and overtime, and he also ran for 23 yards on five carries.
Darnold’s victory over the Bills was his first against a team with a winning record this season. He is now 4-5 as the Vikings’ starting quarterback, and he has helped lead the team to a 7-3 record overall.
Other Notable Performances
In addition to Chase and Darnold, several other players had notable performances in Week 10:
- Titans RB Derrick Henry: Henry rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns in the Titans’ 24-17 victory over the Broncos. It was Henry’s sixth 200-yard rushing game of his career, which ties him with Adrian Peterson for the most in NFL history.
- Ravens QB Lamar Jackson: Jackson threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the Ravens’ 27-13 victory over the Panthers. Jackson is the first player in NFL history to have multiple games with at least 200 passing yards and 100 rushing yards.
- Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb: Lamb caught 10 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 31-28 victory over the Packers. It was Lamb’s second 100-yard receiving game of the season, and he now leads the Cowboys in receiving yards (810) and touchdowns (seven).
The NFL will announce its Players of the Month for October later this week.
