Daniel Jones ‘Grateful’ for Opportunity as Giants Starting QB in First Comments Since Benching
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Daniel Jones expressed gratitude and determination in his first public comments since being benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor as the New York Giants’ starting quarterback.
“It’s Been a Tough Time”
Jones acknowledged the challenges he has faced this season, saying, “It’s been a tough time. I’ve made some mistakes, and the team hasn’t played as well as we would have liked. But I’m grateful for the opportunity to get back out there and prove myself.”
The Giants benched Jones after a dismal 1-7 start to the season, with the offense struggling under his leadership. Taylor, who has started the last three games, has provided a spark, leading the team to a 2-1 record.
“I’m Ready to Compete”
Despite the setback, Jones remains confident in his abilities and is eager to regain his starting role. “I’m ready to compete,” he said. “I’m going to work hard and do everything I can to help this team win.”
Jones’s statistics this season have been underwhelming, with 1,122 passing yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. His completion percentage of 61.4% is also below his career average.
“I Need to Be Better”
The Giants’ offense has been plagued by injuries and inconsistency this season. Jones admitted that he needs to improve his play in order for the team to succeed.
“I need to be better,” he said. “I need to make better decisions, take care of the football, and execute the offense at a high level. I’m committed to doing that.”
“I Believe in This Team”
Despite the team’s struggles, Jones expressed optimism about the Giants’ future. “I believe in this team,” he said. “We have a lot of talent, and I know we can turn things around.”
The Giants face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in a crucial NFC East matchup. Jones will be backing up Taylor, but he is eager to prove that he deserves to be the starting quarterback.
“I’m Grateful for the Opportunity”
Jones concluded his remarks by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to play for the Giants. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this organization,” he said.
“I’m going to continue to work hard and do everything I can to help this team win. I believe in this team, and I believe in myself.”
